Local Materials and alternative firing
Wednesdays | 6 - 9 PM July 9th - July 30th. Four week class | $225

In this class we will explore Detroit area clay, found ceramic materials, and how they can be used as ingredients in clay bodies and glazes. Class will culminate in a pit firing and rocket kiln wood-firing in our garden. We will learn about foraging and processing clays, testing clay bodies and glazes and accessible kiln building and firing. We will focus on teaching hand building techniques in this class but people are welcome to use the wheel as well.
Students have unlimited open studio time within our hours of operation.
All skill levels welcome, including beginners!
